Immunomodulatory Activity of Lactobacillus Sporogenes

چکیده
The immune system of mammals includes a complex array of cells and molecules, which interact to provide protection from challenge by pathogenic microbes (bacteria, viruses, parasites). Antigens are substances that induce an immune response, and are often components of invading microbes. Probiotics are defined as the viable microorganisms that exhibit a beneficial effect on the health of the host by improving its intestinal microbial balance [12]. Since the beginning of the previous century, various health promoting effects of human consumption of probiotic bacteria have been described [3-4]. Numerous experiments have indicated that (changes in) the intestinal microbiota can cause immunomodulation, both at the intestinal and the systemic level [5-6]. Especially lactic acid bacteria (LAB), that are part of the human commensal microbiota and that have a long history of use in food products, have been studied widely. The ability of several LAB strains to modulate host innate as well as acquired immune responses, has been demonstrated in many in vitro experiments and animal models. Besides stimulation of antibody production [7] and macrophage activity [8], functional effects like inhibition of inflammation [910], intestinal infections [11], allergic disease symptoms [12-13] and autoimmune.

Effect of probiotic Lactobacillus on lipid profile: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized, controlled trials
OBJECTIVE To assess the efficacy of probiotic Lactobacillus on serum lipids using a meta-analysis of randomized, controlled trials. METHODS Fifteen studies containing 15 trials, with 976 subjects were included. The pooled WMD was calculated by random effects model. RESULTS Probiotic Lactobacillus consumption significantly reduced TC by 0.26mmol/l (95% CI, -0.40 to -0.12) and LDL-C by 0.23mm...
متن کاملComparison of Lactobacillus Sporogenes plus mineral oil and mineral oil alone in the treatment of childhood functional constipation
BACKGROUND Functional constipation is one of the most prevalent childhood gastrointestinal disorders. We evaluated effects of adding a probiotic to mineral oil in the treatment of functional constipation in children. MATERIALS AND METHODS This controlled trial was conducted on 60 children (2 to 14 years old) with functional constipation (Rome III criteria). Children were allocated to receive ...
متن کاملDraft Genome Sequence of Lactobacillus plantarum MPL16, a Wakame-Utilizing Immunobiotic Strain Isolated from Swine Feces
The genome of the immunomodulatory Lactobacillus plantarum MPL16, a strain able to ferment wakame (Undaria pinnatifida), is described here. The reads were assembled into contigs with a total size 3,278,495 bp. The genome information will be useful for further specific genetic studies of this strain that evaluate its immunomodulatory and biotechnological properties.
